Derek Bosworth is Emeritus Professor at the University of Manchester. He holds a number of honorary titles,
including Senior Research Associate, Oxford Intellectual Property Research
Centre, St. Peter's College and Honorary Professor, Wuhan University of
Technology, Wuhan , China.
Broadly his research focuses on two areas: the influences on organisational performance and the economics and management of intellectual property.
Derek is the author of a large number of books and articles on intellectual property, and has sat as a member of the Committee of Economic Advisors to the President of the European Patent Office and has given several presentations for the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
His other main area of research is on skills and economic performance, and he has been involved in DfES- and SSDA-funded research at the Institute for Employment Research, Warwick University on a large number of projects, mainly focusing on qualifications, skills and skill deficiencies. Derek is a member of the Expert Panel of the SSDA.
